Business Awards Evening
Creative lighting specialist, Blinding Light was asked to produce and deliver a lively, innovative lighting concept at a recent Business Awards Evening.
The brief given to Patrick Stacey, who managed the project for Blinding Light, was to create a high impact, visually exciting, dynamic backdrop and stage atmosphere that would be suitable for both a corporate awards presentation and live band performance.
The need to deliver such a dynamic set for two very different uses, presented an ideal opportunity for Blinding Light to utilise its new Martin LC Series LED panels. Each panel’s unique construction allows light, air and effects to pass through them enabling new possibilities for 3 dimensional lighting and stage design.
Blinding Light built a ground supported truss structure using lightweight QX30 truss. This allowed four 2x1m LC panels to be hung from the front of the truss and a white voil fabric, uplit with Thomas PixelLine 1044s, to be hung a metre behind adding depth and impact to the stage. The LC panels were flanked either side with 10’ x 8’ projection screens for the presentations and LED curtains. Both the projection screens and the LC Panels were driven by Martin’s Compact Maxedia media server and a touch screen monitor, enabling Blinding Light to quickly and easily programme and operate changing presentation backdrops.
To enhance the stage atmosphere a variety of lighting fixtures were used including Martin Professional MAC 700 profiles, rigged behind the LC panels and used for gobo and beamwork effects and MAC 300s, positioned at the base of each leg of the ground support truss. In addition ETC Source Four profiles and 1K fresnels were employed to provided lectern and band lighting. All lighting and the Maxedia media server were controlled with an Avolites Pearl console operated by Dominic Main.
The results were spectacular! The LC Panels created the client’s required visual effects and added a dramatic WOW factor to their event.
